| Summary | Product-as-a-service (PaaS) has the potential to transition societies to a circular economy, with original equipment manufacturers bearing more responsibility for product performance, enabled by technologies like IoT and big data analytics (BDA). However, there’s a lack of insights on managing data of product designs and in-use services in product lifecycle management (PLM) software for PaaS, and a systematic review of existing research reveals requirements for a PLM system to exploit IoT and BDA effectively for PaaS offerings, including facilitating product and service integration, addressing multiple lifecycles, adopting an ontology approach with varied product standards, and processing interoperable data layers. |
